All About Mitsubishi Tailgates & Liftgates
The terms "tailgate" and "liftgate" may seem synonymous, but, for Mitsubishi vehicles, they aren't.
Both are body parts that make it easier to access cargo in a bed or cargo hold, respectively. Tailgates, pickup trucks like Mitsubishi Mighty Max have; they've got hinges on their bottoms, which enable them opening downward, allowing hauling oversize, longer, and oddly shaped cargo.
Liftgates, on the other hand, you'll find on some cars (hatchbacks like Mitsubishi Mirage, for example), plus SUVs like Mitsubishi Outlander; they've got top hinges that help them open upward. They're either electric, or powered by hydraulic or pneumatic pressure. Many these days are hands-free, opening with the push of a button either on the dash, on a key fob, or on the hatch itself.
