How can I tell if my Mitsubishi engine air filter is going bad?
Look for the signs: restricted airflow through the engine filter, damaged air filter media, Check Engine and other warning lights on the dash, worsening fuel economy, unusual engine noises like misfires, power loss, trouble accelerating, and black smoke coming out of the exhaust.
What are the signs of a bad cabin air filter in a Mitsubishi?
They include clogs, worn-out cabin filter fibers, whistling coming from the interior vents, and a stale or dirty odor on the interior.
How often should I replace the fuel filters in my Mitsubishi?
Every couple years, or every 20,000 to 30,000 miles, at least; it depends on what the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual says. Otherwise, change fuel filters when you see symptoms of them failing. They range from a clogged fuel pump and the fuel system having trouble moving gas through the fuel injectors to the Check Engine light and other warnings coming on the dash. Startups may get noisier and rougher than usual, the engine may lag and misfire, your vehicle may stall or shudder while idling, and you may not be able to start it at all.
When do Mitsubishi oil filters need to be changed?
Every 3,000 miles or every 3 months, minimum. That's during every oil change, or every other one. Otherwise, swap out the old for the new when you see signs the oil filter is defective: an engine oil warning light on the dashboard, loss of oil pressure, and the engine underperforming. Do it sooner rather than later, too, or the oil pump will end up damaged, its bearings will wear out, and you'll start having other engine problems, all of which can mean expensive repairs.
