A Brief History of the Mitsubishi Van
The Mitsubishi Van was a wagon and windowless cargo van duo popular between 1987 and 1990, during the third generation of what was called elsewhere the Mitsubishi Delica. The model came in two trims across its short but storied career: base and LS. Dependable, easy to drive, comfortable, and safe, it was popular among small families and outdoor enthusiasts alike, and especially for its all-wheel drive (AWD) system. The Mitsubishi Expo LRV succeeded it starting in 1992.
FAQs About Mitsubishi Van Parts and Accessories
How much does a used Mitsubishi Van cost these days?
According to JD Power and its Values tool, a 1987 model, for example, can go for as little as a couple thousand dollars. More recent models from the 1990s (more than likely, imports), with Mitsubishi Delica nomenclature, might run anywhere from $12,000 or so to $24,000 or thereabouts, according to Autotrader Classics -- $19,000 on average. As cheap as you can get one, you should have plenty of cash left over for upgrades -- a turbocharger to modernize the van's engine, for example, and give it more power; all-weather floor mats and custom seat covers to keep it safer from muck and spills; tougher coil springs and performance shocks and struts to make it a better handler, and so on.
How reliable is Mitsubishi Van?
The model can be very reliable; it depends on how well it's taken care of -- in other words, on how well one keeps up with regular service, following the maintenance schedule in one's owner's manual.
What is my Mitsubishi Van service schedule?
What to do and when can vary; check your manual for details, and do what it recommends: replace the air filters, oil filter, and fuel filter, get oil changes, do tire rotations, inspect the brakes and suspension, tune up the engine, and so on, as called for. If you need help with anything, feel free to schedule a service appointment at a Mitsubishi dealer.
